Who we

are

The Miami Shores Community Alliance was founded in the early 1980s as an informal group of individual residents, invited by the then current Village Mayor to support civic and community projects that strengthen ties and benefit residents. The Alliance grew from an idea of resident involvement to the formation of a 501(c) (3) Corporation with ongoing functions within the Village.

In the early 1990s the organization introduced a fund-raising event in order to provide grant funding to not for profit member organizations to expand the reach and effect of their efforts in the area of education and for charitable purposes. Those who benefit range in age from pre-kindergarten to senior citizens and all in between. The Alliance has funded diverse projects with schools, churches, fine arts commission, homebound meal delivery, and local service organizations as partners.

Today, after nearly two years of social distancing and experience implementing a variety of fund raising styles, The Alliance is alive and well, ready to resume in-person meetings, social events, and fundraisers. Our need is greater than ever to fund projects submitted by a growing list of members, and we look forward to resuming monthly meetings where members come together to share ideas, support synergism among organizations, and cheer successes.

miami shores mayor

The group represents more than 25 local organizations and non-proits and is entirely run by a staff of volunteers.

The Miami Shores Community Alliance was created to distribute funds raise at the Mayor’s Annual Benefit Gala. The group represents more than 25 local organizations and non-proits  and is entirely run by a staff of volunteers. If you live in Miami Shores (or simply participate in Miami Shores activities) then you are one of more than 11,000 individuals that benefit from the work of the Alliance. For more than 35 years, the Alliance has provided grants to community groups that enhance the quality of life in Miami Shores.

Thank you for volunteering and participating. This group used to be called, “The Mayor’s Task Force” for a reason. This Mayor, like those before me, needs help. Raising funds for our Community is never an easy task, but our needs are many. The Alliance holds one event per year to raise these funds. In the past it was called, “The Mayor’s Ball”. Times change, our Village grows younger, but our needs remain. Last year our Alliance gave $55,000 to 20 organizations. We helped schools, the arts, the elderly, and Village Events. So, we need donations, cash, and items for our Silent Auction. Buy a ticket or a table. Let’s get dressed up for one night and help those in our Community who need our help. Join the Alliance. We meet monthly from September to May to hear from our non-profits and seek your advice and ideas.

See the Gala page here for pictures from our past Galas. See a list of those whom we have helped before. So, let’s have some fun this year. Save the date: 2-24-24 at our Country Club!

Thank you for your help and support.
